To reach Härön you to take the ferry from Kyrkesund. At Härön there are mostly cliffs without any vegetation, but in the vallleys you can find old fields and pasturies. At the west side the farm Ängen can be found, this farm was traditionnaly used as late as in the eightys. The main part of the island is nowadays a nature reservate and on the fields cows are feeding to preserve the landscape profile. Härön has an interesting fauna with a very rare meadow vegetation. Big areas are covered with heathers. On the outside of Härön there are many giant's kettle, the biggest of them with a diameter of 2 meters. In the year of 1717 the ship Juffiouw Elisabeth from Amsterdam was wreck plundered at Räbbe Huvud. Among the cargo was a cradle of gold. As per the tradition the cradle is digged somewhere on Tjörn. Härön have been populated since the 1600 th century. |
